22SAN - Richborough Port - Dredging 1916

This picture shows the very early stage of construction at Richborough Port looking towards land, probably taken in 1916. Before the port could become operational extensive dredging had to take place as shown here also the railway had to extend down to the Port and there are rails visible in the left of the picture. Some of the camp buildings are visible but ultimately there were three separate camps at the facility.
