A Postcard showing Deal viewed from the Pier and sent in 1915 by a holidaymaker who had travelled to Deal with her Mother by motor bus. It could be that they were staying privately with friends or possibly in a small guest house as much of the larger accommodation was taken over by soldiers. The card was sent 29th September 1915
The transcribed text reads:
‘My dear Rose, Just at Deal, hope it will find you quite well I am enjoying my holiday very well, we went here by motorbus yesterday, it was a lovely day it’s awful today. Had a line from Bob this morning, he will land in Mesopotamia after all. Ma & I went to Wingham Sunday. Mrs S sends her love. Ma had made all arrangements to come back with me, now it is cancelled. Ted goes back to school and she dare not leave him here with her as they will not grant Ted permission after the holiday. much love from us all Love Cousin May’
