• Joe’s Story

Joe starts keeping his journal from January 1914 and in it he records his daily life, including meeting Rose in February 1914. Joe is very interested in national and international events and by reading his journal you will be able to discover more about the history of this period.

Joe joins up in September 1914 and his ongoing journal will record his experiences and include the stories of his siblings and friends as they undertake different roles in various services, both civilian and military.

Joe’s journal also follows the course of his relationship with Rose and how they kept in contact with each other through postcards.
